WESTERN MEDICAL CLINIC

Western Medical Clinic (WMC), located in Brandon Manitoba, formerly occupied a space that was outdated, inefficient and did not suit their changing needs and philosophies. WMC engaged Sputnik Architecture Inc to assist them in determining their evolving space requirements, and if required, aid in the search for a new location that would better suit their needs. Since WMC was looking to completely reorganize their clinic and operations, it was evident early on in the programming phase that a stay-in-place renovation would not be feasible. To ensure that WMC’s current needs and future growth were accounted for, Sputnik developed a functional space program and furniture inventory through extensive information gathering sessions with the stakeholders. A new site was quickly selected, and upon the completion of conceptual plans and a cost exercise, WMC and Sputnik began planning a new clinic tenant fit-up in a newly constructed professional medical building. Working closely with WMC’s design committee, a plan was approved and the development of the design document and construction document packages followed.

Sputnik was responsible for coordinating all aspects of the document package including all required construction plans, details, finishes plans and millwork. This complex project required detailed drawings and extensive coordination with the mechanical and electrical engineering sub-consultants, and the landlord group, to ensure that both tenant and landlord requirements were met.
